For Christmas I received a brand new sewing machine from my dear dad! I was thrilled, and being so I sewed my best friend a pillow with a big flower on the front of it. I don't have any pictures of the finished project, but here's a picture of the pillow just after the flower was completed and the sewing machine.

Yay! At first It was going to be a pleated high wasted skirt, but the material had other plains. Instead of the skirt beautifully draping down ,it awkwardly flared out and held its shape a little too much. So much so the skirt even stood up on its own when I set it down on the ground!!! Instead, I sewed it into a pencil skirt. This was very time consuming considering It was at first cut too small and tight. For about a day I used the seam ripper and re-sewed the skirt. Finally it fit me. That wasn't the last of my problems though. As the waste band was being sewn onto the skirt, I realized the skirt was being sewn shut. EEK! I thank God for the basic tool in my life...
